Ahhh! I had to also set up 'Windows Hello' on my Windows Machine initially, sorry!
Unfortunately yes, the Wallet Infrastructure is designed to be as secure as possible, so uses a 2-of-3 style system (WebAuth/PRF from the Device, an Encryption of the users Password, and a Backup Phrase).
I think you may be able to use a PRF system on Linux still, but unfortunately Linux isn't my fortè so unable to advise which ones may work for you!
