I think women don't give themselves enough credit for how terrifying it can be when you're pregnant; that you're actually nurturing the growth of a real human being 24/7 inside your body - no breaks.

I remember my youngest daughter, when she was maybe 5 years old, was lying in bed about to go to sleep and she said: "mama, I don't have to have babies when I grow up, right? Cuz that seems really scary" I of course assured her that she would make that decision later and it would be hers to make, and she didn't need to worry.

What I didn't recognize at the time is how innocently wise she was to feel that reality.
