Depression has been kicking my ass lately. Can't be arsed to go outside, or even talk to people...and my birthday is coming up....just my yearly reminder that I'm 600 miles away from anyone I know and hate living in this city.

find a jiu jitsu gym. jiu jitsu = exercise + social. yoga is an easier version of this ... at minimum (or in addition to) start a workout routine : 20 pushups, 20 squats, 20 situps to start (can even do 10 of each so its easy as possible to start and stay consistent. takes 5 - 10 mins. ill def upvalue if you post you did it (honor system!)

Brooz ·

I go for an hour walk at least three times a week regardless of the weather and I do home workouts very regularly because I just don't like training in city gyms. pretty similar to the one you just said except I don't do squats cos I work in catering so leg cardio is just a daily byproduct and I don't do sit ups I just don't like them. I do 15 press ups, 20 dips, 30 second plank, 10 Chinese push ups, then 10 punch combos (jabL jabR hookL then repeat on other side) then repeat.

just recently I'm struggling to find the motivation or the incentive

I understand you ... I think everyone here can empathize with you ... Life is tough in itself ... and then encountering this story of BSV (and all the economic and social consequences) on your journey is incredibly frustrating ... To give you an example, on my journey, I had the "daring" to push the mental and physical limits to go beyond the human condition ... And in doing so I faced very heavy and serious paths of deprivation and sacrifice ... Whole weeks without sleeping, eating... days without even drinking, weeks of meditation until overcoming the very concept of desire and wanting to live, reaching what they call Satori, and various stages of "enlightenment" ... Then returning to exhausting, physical, mental workouts, studying the piano as a self-taught ... thousands of lucid dreams, foresight ... Well, all this did not prevent me from facing long periods of irritation, annoyance to the soul and a hateful frustration often linked to this intricate and complex story of Bitcoin that we know well is not just about having more money, but to want to see a world that changes... and to see that even if it is completely senseless, things continue to go as they go... So nothing... I have no advice to give you that could help you, because I have tried everything, even the literally Impossible things and I am basically in your same position... I can only tell you for what it's worth that I have an esteem and an approval for being different from the majority, and that you suffer for the same things that I suffer for too...

post workouts, anyone, and we will upvalue

I appreciate the feedback guys 🙏

Dang Bruce that’s a hard place. Being away from the people you Love is such a challenge. Even an online community that Loves and respects and tries to uplift you can feel good in the moment, but leaves a certain empty that your real life flesh and blood frens and fam can’t beat. I hope you can find some solace in the things around you. Are you away for good or is it temporary and you’ll be back “home” soon?

Brooz ·

oh since joining the bsv community years back in early handcash and take it days using duros, through twetch and the relayx dramas til now, being able to share my creative ideas, love of music and art with the community is one of the few positive things that keeps me going

I moved up here during covid like 5 years ago, been back down there twice since. I may move back down there some day, but living right in the centre of a city and trying to save is tough lol

ChefMyKLove ·

It’s been a wild ride with BSV for sure. You’re definitely a big part of keeping the community going. One of its biggest hype guys!!

Brooz ·

I appreciate that thank you.

btc is just full of ego and people want their bags pumps.

the bsv community is exactly that, a community. there's so much talent and creativity but also the community actually interests with each other and share personal things. we don't care about price because we know the real value of being able to use bsv daily.

not to mention that bsv just makes sense. it's cheap to use making it the only viable peer to peer system

you don't have apps like handcash, treechat etc on other coins because its not possible

I had a depression a copple of years ago.
Eckhart Tolle books and his videos saved me.
Being in nature and good observating all of it help also but best thing was Eckhart.

OrdFields ·

My 2 cents on depression, have a good look at your diet, and do a bit of research on diet/gut issues and depression. I had a mate experience depression, he finally worked out it was an egg allergy.

Brooz ·

come to think of it I don't necessarily eat healthy, and I drink a lot of coffee and rebull...only eat one meal a day....just don't have the time, and I rarely feel hungry

OrdFields ·

Coffee is a health food in my book, not sure about Red Bull..

Brooz ·

oh im definitely sure red bull is just ruining my insides lol but a healthier diet would definitely help for sure

OrdFields ·

Yeah, maybe a bit more diversity in your diet. People rave about pure carnivore diets, but I prefer balanced eating, meat, vege, fruit and grain, diary, good fats, yoghurt etc. Could also try a blood test and see if you have any deficiencies.

Brooz ·

never thought about testing my blood tbh....interesting.

I do eat a lot of chicken, but also quite a lot of bread I'm always on the go so never really have like substantial meals it's more sort of picking with little meals throughout to keep me going

metamitya ·

sleep food exercise sun is 99% of health gotta be intentional about these. food = maximize protein fats minimize carbs

metamitya ·

eating once per day if good quality is actually quiet good = intermittent fasting letting your body recover and heal

OrdFields ·

Seems like a lot of people are having issues with bread, gluten. Maybe worth experimenting sometimes, try cutting out a food group for a week. Hard to do though when you don't have the time to spend preparing properly balanced meals.

OrdFields ·

Never tried fasting, but apparently good for cleaning your blood.

Brooz ·

thank you guys this actually really helps I can have the chef at my work create healthier meals for me rather than me grabbing something quick and easy. I'm very active so exercise isn't necessarily an issue.

I have a real problem with sleep. I never sleep more than 5 hours or so, sometimes I can not sleep for two days just because my brain doesn't switch off. iv tried music, a workout before bed, and not that this is my long term solution, but having an edible.or a joint before bed is usually the best way I can get to sleep

I have also made steps.to see a therapist, maybe there's some subconscious issues I am not aware of or need to deal with

Brooz ·

as it happens I'm actually out for a walk atm as it's. beaut of a day....its 18 degrees, in Scotland 🤣

also, don't ask bout the beard...I'm experimenting haha

everyone has different cycles and it is important to remember that. Maybe it isabout how you spend your waking hours, what are you getting out of it, are they productive, are you learning, growing.

metamitya ·

walking is soooo good for you ... honestly it's the best part of getting a dog ... forces you to walk a lot

Brooz ·

so productivity can aid in a good sleep?

OrdFields ·

For me, yes, It's something to do with satisfaction, but also the promise of tomorrow, of continuing. Whether it physical or mental exertion, it's tiring. But hopeful you get something from it.

Brooz ·

see I have tried workouts before sleep but I find they tend to give me more energy

OrdFields ·

I can only think of one physical actively i like before sleeping... But reading a book, guaranteed sleep.

spacepirate33 ·

I find taking b12 works great

HOU ·

@Brooz Go to a clinic or see a doctor and ask to
have your :

Vitamin D
Magnesium
Potassium
Zinc
Copper
Vitamin A

levels checked. They should test the cell and not the body. Vitamin D deficiency is not classified as a chronic disease but it sure as hell will kick your as like one! If you’re brave you can just start taking the first 3 off the bat and see how you feel.

Magnesium glycinate is an awesome sleep assist https://home.treechat.ai/quest/ee1921c9-e34a-42e2-876f-53e654a86549

I find that being near the ocean is a bit of a panacea, especially with emotional elements. Touching grass is one thing…. Breathing waves is a whole other level. I’m fortunate to live in a port city and manage to hit the beach most days.

Try carnivore, it works wonders, and gets you sharp and foccussed. When you feel like that focus on you and your health and work out. Carnivore will help a lot, i also fast and eat raw liver with lots of celtic salt if you are willing to go that far, but our all sugar, carbs, seeds, wheats, grains.

Brooz ·

thank you everyone for the kind words and advice 🙏

this community is awesome, I hope I get to meet some of you in person some day

We are being lied too, so don't listen to the depression. Push ups help and knowing what you are doing has a huge impact on a lot lives. You are always there for others. Your amazing broozki. You inspire me along with others to keep pushing regardless of one's situation. Now we tell you keep pushing for those that can't and to show what broozki is truly made of and why dad created you. lfg

While being with my family in the past 3 weeks, I've indulged in take away, pub food and sugar loaded cakes. I'm feeling the mental effects already with mood swings and sad/dark thoughs..
Going back to meat and veg, low carb sugar free asap...

spacepirate33 ·

@StephenBerth Im mostly carnivore but I ate a pizza on Friday and was instantly tired and woke up with a headache the next day, I've become very sensitive to bread and sugar.

Good man for reaching out to this amazing community, there is a lot of love here, i feel it, and you are loved! I think this is a good time to focus on your health. I normally recommend the carnivore way of eating, it usually helps a lot with depression. started regular exercise like press-ups 200-300 a day, and it has helped me a lot improve my mental health and confidence.
