@24 The only hope Boost has is if people value quantity of boosts over their dollar amount. For example, two $.01 Boosts more meaningful than one $1000000.00 Boost. If they are smart, they will implement a marketing fee structure on top of Boost.

What's important is total difficulty, not amount paid nor number of boosts.
If Johnny can perform a costly signal such cut off fingers, this does not prove he is a good artist. If he pays someone else to cut off their fingers, this is an even worse costly signal. Even if we all agree to this signaling system..still bad.
I haven't looked deeply into Boost, but initially I had the same concern, that people with deep pockets can still pay to have their content on top, just like before.
