@24 Baemail is a perfect context to demonstrate how BoostPoW loses to just paying the content creator or stakeholder directly. The only way BoostPoW wins is if you get the developer to collude to use an inferior costly signal.

How does it demonstrate that BoostPOW loses?
Are you going to honestly say that you think a recipient would rather read an email boosted $1000 vs an email sent with $1000 payment? Given a choice, clearly direct payment wins as a costly signal.
Yes, Boost is for competing for attention from rational actors.
how I understand it, email is not the right example; boosting increases visibility/consumption of public content.
It's also good for spam filtering.
Rational actors will realize that content creators will be more likely to create more content if they are paid. Your system has miners getting paid and scales such that marketing firms will pay the boosts..content creators will be paid like now..underpaid.
Content creators can use boost to get more attention for their work. After they do that and you have seen the work, you can pay them.
How do I determine at a given time how much energy = 1 boost?
You look at the specs of a Bitcoin ASIC machine. You don't really need to do that though. All you really need is a relative measure because this is about achieving a good rank.
Whats stoppin greggles from buying boost and manipulating with that?
Its not like their reddit and twitter bots are free
In the case of Baemail, Boosting will be a case of mediocrity. Pay me, pay miners, or under pay both. Pay miners and you don't value my time. Pay both and you undercompete. Pay me and I will be happy. Rationality says pay recipient.
Don't pay the miners and watch the network die, short sighted.
His ability to earn income.
The difficulty can go up as high as it needs to.
I have another application idea where a version of boost could be a game-changer. Happy to share/discuss, but not publicly.
What's your twitter?
ill ping you there
Paying the recipient is just as good for spam filtering. Spammers can never compete with legitimate email. They cannot afford to pay what legitimate email senders can.
Do you boost your videos ?
It's not as good because you could take the money without reading the email. With proof-of-work your incentive is to set the difficulty level such that you receive the optimal amount of information. Therefore the sender knows you've read it.
Daniel would have you believe that his BoostPoW are equal to transaction miners, but they're not. Get rid of all BoostPoW miners and the network will not blink or hiccup. In fact, direct payments also pay miners with transaction fees.
LOL, someone sends me an email for $1000 I will read it .. I'd feel like I cheated the person otherwise. And I know a spammer could never afford that sort of money. Now if the content didn't justify the price tag I would suspect something.
Gotcha. Can you tell me off the top of your head approximately how much energy = 1 boost? Ive boosted somewhere around 2000+ energy.
