2020 was the 7th least deadly year in Sweden since 1968 (and likely ever), on a per capita basis. Official statistics.

Graph doesn’t seem to reflect your claim. But I don’t speak Swede.

👍 I count 7th. And I don’t speak Swede

You need to check if this graph is up to date with all data, often it takes 6 months before all data is received/counted after end of year.

Problem is peak in hospital/ICU and all people who didn't die but are still sicks after many months and can't work.

The independent Central Bureau of Statistics reports complete data, often to the detriment of ruling government. You might just have to accept that you are blowing this out of proportion by watching the news.

Your graph seems also false, I found an other source and 2021 had 9,175 more deaths than 2020 and 5,000-7,000 more deaths than eight other years before that.

Typo: 2021 must be 2020 and 2020 must be 2019.

No, the graph is correct. For each year, total deaths are divided by the size of the population (growing every year). If you look at the graph I provided, you can see that 2020 was indeed worse than the past 7 or so years, but better than all others.

That's not a good way to do a graph, then they also need to correct for better health care each year and aging of population because old people take less risks and mostly sit home all day. For most people 9.67% more deaths in one year is not acceptable.

I think it did its job of putting all this in proper perspective. I liked the 90's, and the 00's, those were great years. We should stop pretending 2020 was so bad when more people died all those other years that we liked so much.

That's a limited view, in the beginning of the 1st wave people who where already weak died but end of 1st wave and after people who had 10 to 40 years to go died. Not died and very sick with permanent lung damage are many more people, in time we will know.
