Amblin’ (1968) - Steven Spielberg | Best Quality
Amblin’ (1968) Short Film.

Written and Directed by Steven Spielberg.
I just watched Spielberg's first film. It's a 35 min short filmed in 1968 called Amblin which is kind of a pre amble for his entire career running Amblin Entertainment. No words. Just music and visuals of two young people hitchhiking to the ocean via desert.
The chick is total flower child hippie. The dude has a guitar and tries to act like a free love hippie but turns out to be a square. The big reveal is the last two minutes when he jumps into the water fully clothed and she (who is now creeped out and realizes that he is another species) uses the opportunity to open his guitar case on the beach to look inside.
No guitar. Only a business suit, toilet paper, rum bottle, milk of magnesia (possible pedo reference but not sure)... And finally one book. Arthur C Clark's 1948 City and the Stars. Read the story synopsis on wiki

Then think about the two archetypes of Aldous Huxleys Brave New World of John Savage vs Mustafa Mond who seem to be opposed but agree on the same fundamental nature of technology's inevitable tendency to destroy human culture and freedom with the only difference being how they chose to react to that inevitable fact... Adapt to it and become a fatalistic pro tech antinhumanist world controller like Mond OR go full eco terrosist fatalistic anti tech misanthrope like John Savage.
These are the two opposing  archetypes of Spielberg's Amblin and Sir Arthur Clark's two cities (cold technocratic and hippie telepathic Gaia) under the dark and light AI gods in City and the Stars.

Then look through Spielberg's Amblin filmography and see how it all fits from Close encounters to ET to AI to Disclosure day shit and everything in between
