Vitamin B12 is produced by bacteria, not animals or plants. Therefore due to our sanitized life everyone should take B12 supplements except those in the 3rd world'ish..

Veganism is a really old philosophy. B12 deficiency isn’t exclusive to vegans. Yes I do take a b12 supplement. We could get b12 from fruit and vegetables but we clean them a lot washing off the bacteria

@1126 Eh? Unless youre telling me B12 levels in various meats I see from a search is wrong, this seems silly
@134 can you share some links re veganism being old philosophy? Im familiar w/ vegetarians having a long history like in India but not veganism

Here is proof regarding our ancestors being vegans from analyzing the contents of fossilized human poop: https://youtu.be/Vkg2nrVPQEU?t=75

Dangis i was referring to your comment about everyone needing to supplement. B12 levels in meats are clearly high enough for meat eaters to not have to supplement.

@77 B12 comes in two forms: protein-bound B12 (from animals) vs crystalline or "free" B12. Before it can be absorbed into our systems we must detach vitamin from protein and that can cause levels to be much less than anticipated.
