If you had $1 million that you had to choose between buying properties or stocks? What would you choose?

With property you can leverage easily 10x the money as you can loan 90% from a bank with security in the property you have the loan on.

Buy 10 small apartments for $100K in popular rent cities/areas, loan 90% & pay down 10%.

$35K in interests year 1 (3,5%).

Rent the small apartment for market price for $400 (4800 yearly) * 10 apartments - 15% (costs/no rent) = $40800.

$5800 in profit.

The numbers will be completely different, I was not thinking straight for a moment and I just built on the initial numbers. You have 9 million in loans and 1 million in assets. Much higher numbers and risk/reward scenario.
