I remember quite a few years ago I read Eckhart Tolle's book Power of Now. The words came alive on the page.. they 'spoke', resonated. I don't even think of the guy now, because it wasn't about worship of a person, it was about resonating with truth. At the time, I signed up to go to a conference he was speaking at in New York and a friend of mine who had also read his book said, "Wow, you'll have to report back all you learned!" I was so puzzled by him saying that.. Had he read the book? The whole point is that there is nothing to learn. It was that moment when I understood the term spiritual materialism. My thoughts were not to denigrate my friend in any way, it was just an observation.. a curiosity.

highly recommend the book if you have not read it. We are all on a journey here..
yeah the book had more insights than i expected. i remember reading a lot of spiritual growth books then. another good short read was the 4 agreements
Yeah 4 agreements was good too. Also not sure if you read Celestine Prophecy.. James Redfield. He says there are 4 control dramas that all humans use to gain energy from others. (Until they realize the source is from within or god..) and most people unconsciously use one or more of these. Though he says everyone has one they gravitate to. 1. Intimidator 2. Interrogator 3. Aloof 4. Poor Me.
Intimidator gains energy by aggression or threats, Aloof gains energy by being distant or mysterious, Interrogator gains energy by questioning and criticizing, Poor Me gains energy by looking for sympathy. It’s a pretty profound model
