Tried sending a recorded message like four different times, & tried sending a text signed to get a user number.

They need a handle system for naming. I would have thought full public keys would be a thing of the past by now. Handcash / Relayx / Moneybutton had that part down. Big fan of this app. Need to find a device I care to leave it on and try it out.
