A fictional character is being portrayed by a member of the opposite sex and different ethnic origin. My God, I'm so fucking angry, not :)
I'm happy to debate this with you, but I need you to actually watch it first so you understand what you're arguing against. Your short reply, so far, shows that you don't.
I watched parts of the video (had to skip through, couldn’t listen to 12 mins of the arrogance) and I still agree with sheikki.
The guy in the video was complaining about the little mermaid being black too. It’s rather petty.
Ask yourself, why alter existing characters instead of creating new ones? Will Mulan be recast as a white? No, and she shouldn't be. Keeping characters as their original race and gender isn't suspicious, but altering them is.
Parasitic politics.
Have you expressed outrage of Jesus being portrayed with Northern European phenotype (fair skin, fair hair, fair eyes)? Assuming he's a historical figure, it's rather certain that he did not look like that..
@ sheikki
No one in this thread has expressed outrage thus far, what makes you think that we're going to start?
Alex, that could be the case if white people weren’t over-represented in every aspect of the media.
When the vast majority of main characters have been white for so long, we should rethink our casting everytime we do re-makes of movies.
@ Conscious
Have whites actually been over-represented?
If that's true, do you think that's a bad thing?
Why should we re-caste characters with actors or representations that are of a different gender and race instead of just making new characters?
I have watched the pattern of the big media shows and movies. There are many common threads. Most of them have the same agenda.
Watch carefully what roles black people are most often cast in. They are usually disposable characters, often die the most...
... graphic deaths. You’re often given hope that they will survive and then let down hard.
One example, Bumblebee the movie. Loved it, but the casting of the one young black guy is in such a weak and secondary role.
I see it everywhere, now that I look
There is a wider point here that seems to be missed. It isn't about bloody characters in a film.

Whatever makes Disney money is all that matters. Remakes for a new audience makes more money because they're still selling the originals too.
They could make money producing new films just as easily as remaking old. And it's much broader than Disney. This is ideological and white males are the target.
I think white men cry victim more often than they should. We should look at our history more honestly before making such claims.
We don’t like to deal with how we have gotten where we are. We feel like we are being attacked, because we have always learned to deny white supremacy, especially to ourselves.
You're part of the problem.
